Tragic End to Two-Month Search: Missing Indian Student Found Dead in Helsinki Waters

A body recovered from the sea off the coast of Helsinki on Thursday has been officially identified as an 18-year-old Indian engineering student who vanished more than two months ago.

The National Bureau of Investigation confirmed the discovery near Kruunuvuorenranta following extensive coastal searches. The student had been reported missing since early May.

Police are continuing to investigate the exact cause of death. Authorities stated that they currently do not suspect any criminal involvement.

The teenager relocated to Finland last autumn to study engineering at LUT University in Lahti. He was last seen alive on Tuesday, May 5, after taking a commuter train from Lahti to Helsinki.

His final confirmed location was a local grocery store in the Kruunuvuorenranta neighborhood. The disappearance triggered a massive joint search effort by the National Bureau of Investigation, local police, and the Finnish Border Guard.
